Here are more questions Chris, from the Stephen and Chris Show, asked me during our interview.

Chris: What’s the difference between single woman sex and married woman sex?
My Answer: When you think about how the average person learns to have sex, it was a short time period encompassing a small amount of knowledge. That limited learning is what we take and use for the rest of our lives. This single-sex formula works great when we are single for a number of reasons. However, once we get into our long term relationship, it stops working—especially for millions of women.

What the happily ever after people neglected to tell the average couple is they need to have a different type of sex—married-sex. Luckily, the transition from single-sex to married-sex doesn’t have to be difficult.

Chris: You think that good married sex goes beyond the orgasm-why?
My Answer: Men and women were told that because a woman can have an orgasm, she will be sexually satiated. It’s my experience that many women can and do consistently have an orgasm during the sexual experience and yet she is not sexually satisfied once the sex is over. Therefore, there must be more to the sex than having an orgasm.

Women need to feel that when they walk into the bedroom, they will be nurtured. Single-sex rarely provides the nurturing she needs.

The second question Chris, from The Stephen and Chris Show, asked was why I wrote this book.

My Answer
I wrote this book because of my own sexual difficulties after only a few years of marriage. I knew the minute I met my husband that he was “the one” and everything about our relationship, including the sex, was amazing. Yet three years after getting married our sex life became almost non-existent.

Naturally, I went to my library of sex books looking for solutions. Surprisingly, I could find nothing that fit my particular situation:
• I was happily married—except for the sex part
• I didn’t have a sexual dysfunction
• I enjoyed sex when I was in the mood—which was becoming less and less
• I wanted to have a great sex life—I just didn’t know how

I wrote my book, Till Sex Do Us Part to help me and the millions of other women who are grappling with this exact same situation.

During my recent media tour in Toronto, I was on The Stephen and Chris Show–love, love, love those two and have enjoyed the many shows they’ve done over the years. Here is the first of a series of questions they asked me during the interview.

Chris’ Question: Is it normal for sex to go downhill after marriage?

My Answer: Unfortunately for over 40 million North American couples, yes. Typically because the average couple is so busy they allow their relationship to coast, putting very little time, effort and affection into each other. It makes sense that with no effort it will be much more difficult to cultivate and have fulfilling intimacy, sex and long term sexual happiness.

I’m a big believer that good sex has very little to do with intercourse. Instead good sex is largely to do with what goes on outside the bedroom. Sex is, however, an easy barometer to determine what’s happening in the relationship (fights, happy, sad, etc.)

As such, I’m creating a teleseminar series that looks at sex in a holistic sense. Please don’t be put off by the airy-fairy language. All this means is that the quality and frequency of your sex life is affected and determined by extraneous factors.

So far I’ve lined up some pretty wonderful experts.

(1) Lorna McLaren will tell us about: how to communicate; understanding your partner’s personality style; and how stress affects your sex.

(2) Dr. Brian Parker will tell us “the guys side” and we’ll also go into debunking many sexual stereo types and myths that get in the way of couples enjoying sex.

(3) Michelle Cederberg is a life/ balance expert and she will discuss how to find balance in a chaotic life.

(4) Dr. Natasha Iyer, M.D. is an expert on how hormones affect our stamina, libido and sex drive. She’ll tell us what we can do if we find our sex life sagging.

Pretty exciting stuff!

There are more guests that haven’t confirmed. Click here to sign up for my newsletter so I can keep you posted on when the teleseminar series starts and how you can sign up.

At the same time as I started writing this book two years ago, I started marketing my book. And even though I did a lot of research into the publishing world to understand what I was getting into…it didn’t prepare me for what I was getting into.

I have found out that writing and editing the book although arduous and very work intensive is about 25% of the process. Getting my book in front of the masses is about 75% of the work.

Granted I am a first time author and with this book came a litany of “first times”. The next time I go through this process–I sincerely hope–it won’t be as much work; or as much of a need to prove myself to the world and its critics.

The good news is I have an undergraduate degree in business. I spent ten years working in marketing and promotions. So the last six to eight months of complete and utter marketing have been like coming home to an old friend. I now sympathize with my other author friends who have written very good books and struggle with how to get people to buy their book. It’s not easy.

Happily reporters, radio shows and TV shows are calling asking for interviews. It still seems surreal. Me and my little theory on why women don’t enjoy sex and what they need to do about it, have been waiting in the shadows for three (or more) years.

And now, what I believe about the average female’s sexuality is about to be scrutinized by the world. I can’t tell you how nerve wracking it is. Makes me appreciate why the good-old authors of the past took up drinking.

Yet, I know what I’m saying in my book is what is true for the average gal. I’ve put my theory in front of too many women in seminars and have seen from their reaction that I speak their behind-closed-doors-sexual-secret. What remains to be seen is whether everyone else who hasn’t been to my seminars is ready to take on my idea. Only time will tell.

It is show time. Wish me and my theory luck.
